Heading out in a boat and dangling a line to catch mackerel is a quintessentially British seaside activity providing great fun for all the family. Mackerel fishing suits all ages and abilities.
While the sleek silvery mackerel swim in deep water over winter, they return to the shallows off the coast of Lyme Regis in the summer months to spawn, often in fast moving shoals numbered in their thousands. With some simple instruction and a bit of luck you can get your hands on these salty morsels. We provide all bait, lines and tuition you need, and you can keep your catch to cook later.
Our mackerel fishing trips from Lyme Regis last for about an hour and are ideal for children or groups wanting to experience something a bit different. There’s a good chance of catching some mackerel and while out at sea you can take in the stunning scenery plus you’ve got a chance to see sea birds and possibly even dolphins frolicking in their natural habitat.
From Easter through to the end of September, we run one hour mackerel trips throughout the day.
Mackerel fishing trips depart at 9.45am, 10.45am, 1.15pm & 3.30pm. During busy periods additional trips may run. All trips are dependent on sea and weather conditions.
Mackerel fishing is £15 per person for one hour.
£95 per hour to private charter one of our boats.
